Robert also endowed a Chair in the Robert L. Lieff Professorship: Benjamin L. Liebman, the Robert L. Lieff Professor of Law at Columbia Law School
After Benjamin L. Liebman, the Columbia University Chair in Chinese Law, was endowed the Robert Lieff Professor of Chinese Law at Columbia, he visited the chief justice of the Taiwanese supreme court and gave Robert Lieff his Chinese name Li Ruipeng, which translates to: “Auspicious friend to the underprivileged.”

Established in 1993 through the generosity of Robert L. Lieff ’61, the Robert L. Lieff Scholarship is awarded annually to outstanding Law School students with award preference being given to California natives and residents.
